Health

At Ipas Bolivia, we work comprehensively to improve access to quality services, ensuring that girls, adolescents, and women who are victims of sexual violence receive the care they deserve. We collaborate closely with universities, health authorities, and law enforcement agencies to implement programs that strengthen the health system and provide specialized care to those who need it most.

Care for Victims of Sexual Violence

We support health facilities that provide specialized care to girls, adolescents, and women who are victims of sexual violence. We ensure they have access to appropriate medical and psychological services, with a rights-based and respectful approach.

Strengthening Academic Training

We have introduced new competencies into the curricula of four Bolivian universities, contributing to the education of future health professionals with a comprehensive focus on public health, legal medicine, and obstetrics and gynecology:

  • Universidad Pública del Alto (UPEA)
  • Universidad Autónoma Juan Misael Saracho (UAJMS)
  • Universidad Real Pontificia San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca (URPSFXCH)
  • Universidad Privada Franz Tamayo (UNIFRANZ)

These courses cover key topics such as:

  • Public Health: Addressing community programs, biostatistics, epidemiology, and health management.
  • Legal Medicine: Focusing on care for victims of violence.
  • Gynecology and Obstetrics: Developing health policies and medical practices focused on reproductive health.

Coordination and Quality Improvement

We work alongside the Ministry of Health and Sports (MSD) and local authorities to ensure that sexual and reproductive health services meet the highest standards. We ensure that services for Legal Termination of Pregnancy (ILE), contraception, and post-abortion care are available and implemented according to the ecosystem of each community.

We coordinate these efforts with 5 SEDES/SERES, heads of nursing, and health facility directors to ensure that medical and administrative staff are aligned with our quality goals.

Intervention with the FELCV

We collaborate with the Special Force to Combat Violence (FELCV), where we provide training to police officers and personnel from the Integral Police Stations (EPIS) in 5 departments. We offer them technical and financial assistance, and we follow up on the cases handled at each EPI. Additionally, we train SEDES on the Interinstitutional Care Route for the Fight Against Sexual Violence to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
