In commemoration of International Men’s Day, Ipas Bolivia and the Bolivian Active Masculinities Network (RMAB), with the support of the Canadian Embassy, organized the fair “More healthy men, less violence” in Plaza Camacho in La Paz. The activity, in alliance with the Abre los Ojos campaign of the Bolivisión television network, Educo and the Subalcaldía Centro de La Paz, took place on Friday, November 15, with the objective of highlighting the role of men as allies in the construction of a society free of violence and to promote changes in macho behavior to reduce violence.

The active participation of men is essential to reduce violence in our society. By questioning and transforming machista attitudes, men become agents of change, promoting relationships based on respect and equity. This commitment not only contributes to coexistence without violence, but also lays the foundation for a society in which everyone can develop without fear.

The event offered diverse activities such as games, dynamics, shows and informative tents on masculinities, sexual and reproductive health, and violence prevention. In addition, two murals were inaugurated to promote reflection on the impact of men in the construction of respectful and equitable relationships, highlighting how the transformation of traditional behaviors contributes to coexistence without violence.

The fair was attended by RMAB members from cities such as Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Cobija, Tarija, Yacuiba, Villazón, Sucre, Potosí, Llallagua and La Paz. With more than seven years of work, the RMAB has dedicated constant efforts to the promotion of healthy masculinities, integrating new members and diversifying its awareness-raising strategies. This network originated as part of the leadership training program promoted by Ipas Bolivia, seeking to generate male role models committed to Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and violence prevention.
