January closes with the tragic balance of six femicides, 50% less than in the same month in 2023, when 12 murders of women were recorded.

The crimes against women occurred in Cochabamba, with two cases; La Paz with two, Tarija one and Potosí one. The aggressors are partners and ex-partners of the victims.

Khaterine is the first victim of 2024. The woman died after receiving eight stab wounds. In addition, her body bore signs of violence.

The incident occurred in Quillacollo, Cochabamba. Her partner, Javier Zenteno, is the confessed perpetrator of the crime.

According to the investigations, the couple, after consuming alcoholic beverages, had an argument and the man grabbed a knife and stabbed her; then, he left the victim’s body on a public road and fled the place. The woman’s body was found by neighbors.

The second case is that of Lucy, 30 years old. She died from blows to the head inflicted by her boyfriend. The incident occurred in the municipality of Uncía, Potosí.

Hilda, 39 years old, is the third woman to die at the hands of her ex-partner, who stabbed her to death with 14 stab wounds. The feminicide gave himself ways to enter her house and hid under the bed to then attack her. The crime occurred in the city of Cochabamba.

FOURTH VICTIM

The fourth woman killed is Vilma. The woman was brutally beaten by her common-law husband. After 19 days of agony, she finally lost her life. The incident occurred in the municipality of Yacuiba, Tarija.

The fifth victim is a woman whose body, found in a ravine in the town of Tillapi, in the municipality of Tiwanaku, department of La Paz, was burned. Her husband is the main suspect.

The sixth victim is Sonia, 47 years old. The woman died from multiple stab wounds to her body inflicted by her partner. The case was registered in the Kiswaras area of El Alto.

All the perpetrators of the six femicides are being held in different prisons; some of them have been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
