The Unidad Educativa Técnica Humanística “República de Italia” in the La Portada area mobilized in a march against violence as an immediate action following Ipas Bolivia’s trainings in several schools in La Paz. The march, titled “Put a stop to violence! The decision is in you”, was attended by students from all levels of secondary school, who, with the knowledge acquired on the subject, expressed themselves to the population about the different types of violence.
The trainings involved teachers and parents, who then replicated the information to students. “Thanks to the non-governmental organization Ipas Bolivia, today our Educational Unit is carrying out this march against violence. It is fundamental to reject any act of violence. We started with workshops for parents, teachers and students,” said Armín Félix Gutiérrez, the school’s director.
The march departed from the vicinity of the school to the Plaza Alto Tejar, in front of the General Cemetery. During the march, the students made presentations in which they addressed different types of violence according to their educational levels, including physical, economic, media, patrimonial, labor, sexual and feminicidal violence.
The young people showed great enthusiasm and interest in making the people present understand the importance of preventing and eradicating violence in all its forms.
