The third version of the campaign ‘I love myself, I take care of myself’ was launched in El Alto, an initiative that seeks to prevent teenage pregnancies and promote sexual and reproductive health among young people, informed the head of the Promotion and Prevention unit, Alejandra Callizaya.

“The ‘I love me, I take care of myself’ campaign promotes the prevention of teenage pregnancy, which is a worrying problem in our city,” Callisaya said.

The contest, which is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of El Alto and Fundación Privada de Fieles Centro de Multiservicios Educativos (CEMSE), seeks to provide information and tools to adolescents so that they can make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

“We are committed to providing our young people with the information and tools they need from the prevention unit of the mayor’s office, so that they make healthy and responsible decisions,” Callisaya added, according to a GAMEA bulletin.

“The issue of sex education through this platform is very important because the goal is to reduce the rate of teenage pregnancies and this platform can be informed in a correct and timely manner,” explained Joaquín Mamani Fuentes, representative of CEMSE.

The campaign consists of the use of a virtual platform, implemented by CEMSE, which includes talks and workshops in schools and community centers, the distribution of educational materials and the promotion of sexual and reproductive health services.

In the city of El Alto, 941 cases of teenage pregnancies were registered in 2023, in women between the ages of 15 and 19, according to data from the Regional Health Service, SERES.
