Bolivia reports 45 femicides and 19 infanticides in the first half of the year

The Bolivian Attorney General’s Office reported on Monday that in the first six months of 2024, 45 femicides and 19 infanticides were reported, and that in most cases the perpetrators are in pretrial detention. The director of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes against Life and Personal Integrity, Elizabeth Viveros, reported that in the first half of the year there were 45 femicides, of which most are concentrated in La Paz (11).

Bolivia registers 35 femicides and 18 infanticides so far in 2024

From January 1st to May 29th, 35 women were murdered because of their gender. They were victims of femicide and the department of La Paz is the most dangerous in the country for women. The updated report includes the last two cases of femicides, one occurred in the highlands of La Paz, in the municipality of Achacachi, and the other in Charcas, Chuquisaca.
