A Google 2023 report detected a case of child sexual exploitation in Bolivia. The case was investigated and a 22-year-old man from the city of La Paz, who allegedly abused underage family members, was apprehended.

The case was discovered when Google intercepted child pornography content and was reported to the CyberTipline platform of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

The CyberTipline prepared the technical report, which establishes that the crime occurred in Bolivian territory, said Major Maribel Santander, from the Trafficking in Persons Unit.

Investigations began in 2023, and on August 26 the suspect was apprehended after a raid on his home in the Vino Tinto area of the city of La Paz.

It was established that the same 22-year-old, with initials C.M.A.M., had the same characteristics as the person in the videos.

Four minors, of both sexes, who were victims of the abuses were also identified and reported what happened in a Gesell camera.

Prosecutor Judith Chávez indicated that the victims are between 4 and 17 years old. The suspect is the uncle of three of them. She also revealed that there is a second person implicated in the case, but he is already dead.

The Prosecutor’s Office will request the preventive detention of the subject in the prison of Chonchocoro, for the crime of rape of a child or adolescent.

Major Santander asked the general population to be careful about who they entrust their children to, in order to avoid this type of case. He pointed out that, in this case in La Paz, the perpetrator offered the cell phone to the minors for games. This way he managed to trick and blackmail them to commit the crimes.
