The mayor of the city of Potosí, Jhonny Llally, has been sent to the Santo Domingo de Cantumarca jail with preventive detention in the framework of a sexual abuse complaint. Although the Prosecutor’s Office had requested three months, the Justice determined a preventive detention of 15 days.
Roxana Choque, departmental prosecutor of Potosí, informed that the duration of the preventive detention was appealed. Llally appeared in a precautionary hearing for one of the four complaints related to sexual aggressions against him.
Complaint involves indecent touching and presence of a minor.
“I understand that it is because of the complaint of sexual abuse. Allegedly he would have made indecent touches to one of his secretaries, even in the presence of a minor of 8 years old”, Choque briefly informed the media.
The mayor was taken out of the court under heavy police presence.
The mayor was taken out of the court under heavy police presence because the victims and their relatives were waiting for him outside the court. Choque considers that the 15 days is a short period of time to carry out the investigations corresponding to the accusations.
Evidence presented supports authorship and existing procedural risks.
During the hearing, evidence was presented on the probable authorship of the accused and it was demonstrated that there are procedural risks such as danger of flight and obstruction. Based on this, the judge determined a preventive detention for 15 days; however, an appeal was filed requesting an extension for three months, Choque explained.
Second authority sent to preventive detention in Potosí.
It is important to note that this is the second authority to be sent to preventive detention after governor Jhonny Mamani, who was sent to jail for an accusation of legitimization of illicit profits related to irregularities in the failed purchase of 41 ambulances.
