The departmental prosecutor of Oruro, Aldo Morales, informed this Tuesday about the case of a 16 year-old minor who lost her life after having an abortion in a medical center in the city of Oruro.
“It was an unfortunate fact with reference to a minor, a school student, who was pregnant. According to the information, she had taken pills days before and had failed to perform a complete abortion”, he reported in an interview onCadena A.
According to the information, the minor had gone to a private medical center, where the health professional attended her to perform the abortion; after the procedure, the minor returned home and in the early hours of the morning had very strong pains in the belly, reason why the relatives decided to take her to a hospital, however, the minor arrived without vital signs.
“It was the relatives who proceeded to apprehend this doctor, the Public Prosecutor’s Office immediately took charge, together with the Bolivian Police, and in the first part, this doctor was apprehended and charged with culpable homicide and preventive detention in the San Pedro prison is being requested”, he informed.
The authority stated that the investigation continues, in order to find out who is the person who would have provided the pills, with reference to the abortion produced, and also to know who is the father of the unborn child.
“The investigation continues, and the participation of other people, such as medical personnel who had knowledge of the incident and covered it up,” said Morales.
