Bolivia is part of the first Advisory Board on Gender Equity of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), through Ambassador Maira Macdonal, the country’s representative to international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis milestone is another example of the efforts and results of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in promoting a depatriarchalizing foreign policy, with a gender perspective, and a multilateralism committed to women’s rights towards a world with equity and equality,\u201d an institutional report said.<\/p>\n
It is explained that, in order to generate synergies from the different agencies, the First Meeting was held in parallel to the 57th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.<\/p>\n
The Gender Equity Advisory Board is composed of member states from each of the regional groups, the United Nations system and other key stakeholders, such as the General Secretariats of the Telecommunication Union and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.<\/p>\n
As well as the directors general of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe constitution of the Board is in line with working guidelines of the national government that recognizes the importance of promoting gender equality,\u201d the Foreign Ministry report states.<\/p>\n
